This movie works as far as weirdness is concerned. If you’re looking for that European style, that show don’t tell kind of film then Pedro Almodóvar’s The Skin I Live In is for you. It was most certainly for me. Sometimes European films can get so pretentious with their pacing that it slows down the overall enjoyment of the film but Almodóvar crafts a great piece of cinema.
Without getting into the details what’s best about the film is timing in which the story is told. If things don’t make sense at the beginning, don’t worry, you’re not watching a David Lynch film, everything comes together in a silly mess.
